These air pressure powered hammers are corroding in Lausa, Austria
 Federhammer
After a long long search, we found an antique mechanical hammer in the former DDR. This hammer had not been in use for almost 10 years and after lengthy negotiations with the owner, we could call the hammer our own. After an extensive journey and a full day of taking it apart in smaller pieces, this enormous piece of equipment, weighing about 1500 kg,  was moved in the horsetrailer for the trip back home.

The city HAAR where the hammer was found was on the other side of the river Elbe, which we had to cross by "ferry" again on the way home.
The hammer's constitution.
The eccentric drive of the hammer
After some minor repairs, the hammer was working well again.  Because it had to be placed directly on the basement floor, where the foundation is right underneath , its true power cannot be fully utilised. Still, the hammer can develop a power of  400 kgs.
